hi , my name is charles baer . gig is www.globalinternetgovernment.com . these are the gig rankings for today , march 10th , 2013 . all numbers are in the trillions of american dollars . to get the gig rankings , I take the top 40 countries in terms of gross domestic product , GDP . then I subtract the external debt of each country from their G D P . then I get the number . the higher the number , the higher the ranking . so it goes like this . china . ranking one . number 7 , as in 7 trillion dollars . I got that number by taking the chinese G D P , 8.25 , and subtracting the external debt , 1.25 . remember , all numbers are trillions of american dollars . so , china is number one on the gig rankings because it had the highest number , 7 , and I got that number like this , 8.25 - ( minus ) 1.25 . many european countries have negative numbers because their debt is much more than their G D P .
